Job Description

What is the opportunity?

This is a unique opportunity to join the leading team within the Asset Management industry. As North American Credit Analyst, you will be part of a team that is responsible for the fundamental and technical analysis of North American investment grade corporate bond issuers within specific industries and/or geographies. You will contribute to fund performance by recommending bonds and strategies that outperform fund benchmarks and competitors. What will you do?

  • Contribute to the portfolio management strategy through participation in meetings and the sharing of market knowledge and opinions as to opportunities and risk exposure

  • Comprehensive credit research and assessment of the credit worthiness of Canadian dollar and U.S. dollar investment grade corporate issuers.

  • Develop and maintain a base of knowledge including assigned industry sector trends and conditions, current relative value relationships and general debt market technical conditions.

  • Present and explain buy, sell and hold recommendations on new issue offerings, secondary market investment ideas and current investment holdings.

  • Ongoing monitoring of portfolio investments to determine appropriateness within overall strategy by reviewing: company operating results; industry conditions; credit rating trends; relative value; default risk; etc.

  • Maintain and develop a network of brokers and sell-side analysts.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • 3 years of relevant lending and credit analysis experience within a financial institutional setting

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.

  • Competency in financial accounting and ability to develop models/spreadsheets using appropriate computer software.

  • Proficient Bloomberg and Excel skills

  • Ability to manage concurrent tasks activities

  • Ability to make decisions under limited time and information constraints.

  • Ability to work in a team environment

Nice to Have

  • CFA charter holder

  • Experience with structured products.

  • University degree (BA and up)

  • Some knowledge of Python or other programming languages
